How to Make Ribbon Flipflops
Flip flops are standard shoe wear for the summer. If you're tired of the same old rubber flip flops or can't find any that you like, try making your own. Use a ribbon bow to really dress up an old pair of flip flops (or a new, inexpensive pair). With a few inexpensive materials, you can have brand new ribbon flip flops that will turn heads wherever you go.
Things You'll Need
- Rubber flip flops
- 5/8-inch wide ribbon
- Craft adhesive glue
- Scissors
- 4 clothes pins
- Hair bows

1
Unwind your ribbon. Apply a dot of glue onto one end of the ribbon. Press the glue to the very bottom of the underside of the flip flop strap. Wind the ribbon all the way around the strap until you get to the other side. Ensure you wrap the overlap ribbon tightly so the strap can not be seen underneath.
-
2
Cut the ribbon when you've reached the strap's opposite side. Apply a dot of glue to the end of the ribbon and glue it to the underside of the strap.

-
3
Place a clothespin on each ribbon end to ensure they both glue completely to the flip flop. Allow at least 12 hours for the glue to completely dry.
-
4
Select the kind of decorative hair bows that you want to use to embellish your flip flops. Little girls' hair bows are often very decorative, colorful and inexpensive.
-
5
Turn the hair bow over and remove the hair clip. Simply cut the thread attaching the bow to the clip with a pair of scissors.
-
6
Apply a generous dot of glue--nickle-sized--to the back of the bow where the clip was. Press the bow to the middle of the flip flop strap to adhere.
-
7
Clip two clothespins over the bow--on either side of the middle of the bow--to help the bow adhere. Allow at least 12 hours for the bow to completely dry on the flip flop. Repeat Steps 1 through 7 with the second flip flop.

Tips & Warnings
To speed up the process of this project, use hot glue instead of craft adhesive glue. The hot glue will dry much quicker than the craft adhesive glue, allowing you to wear the flip flops almost right away.
