Homemade Carnival Invitations
Carnival parties can involve a variety of activities, from clowns to face painting, game booths and treats. The invitation for a carnival party should help guests to get in the spirit of the party by providing visual cues of some things that might appear at the carnival. One simple idea for a homemade carnival invitation is to create a giant admission ticket with the carnival details printed on the back. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
-
Design the Text
-
1
Open a word-processing program and create a two-page document.
-
2
Orient the document in the landscape format so it is wider than it is tall.
-
-
3
Type “TICKET” or “ADMIT ONE” on the first page. Make the font bold and increase its size until the text still fits on one line but fills the full width of the page.
-
4
Type the details of the carnival party on the second page, including the time, date and location. Use wording that tells guests the party is a carnival, such as “Step right up,” and consider listing the location as the “Smith Fairgrounds,” substituting your last name. List a few activities that your guests can expect, such as game booths, face painting and crafts.
-
5
Print the invitations on brightly colored paper with the ticket on one side and the party details on the other.
Embellish by Hand
-
6
Cut a quarter of a circle out of each of the four corners of the ticket invitation to mimic the look of a real ticket.
-
7
Draw a small pinstripe line with a marker around the front of the ticket. It should be about ½ to 1 inch from the edge of the paper.
-
8
Write a ticket number on the ticket if desired, as many carnival tickets, especially those used for raffles, have a unique number on each ticket.
-
9
Cut out balloon shapes from contrasting colors of paper and glue them onto the reverse side of the ticket where the party information is listed. Draw balloon strings with markers or cut out small lengths of ribbon and glue them in place.
