Golf carts also have recreational use.

Much like a car, there is never a good time for your golf cart to stop working. Whether you use it for work or play, the inconvenience is stressful and getting the golf cart repaired immediately becomes priority. Luckily, a golf cart consists of a few key components and moving parts. In an EZ GO golf cart built in 1992 the parts that might be malfunctioning are easy to access and diagnose.

Instructions

    • 1

Check and observe the battery connection. Battery terminals become loose or erosion will build up. Make sure all batteries are connected to the terminals and, if there is erosion, clean the connections off with a terminal cleaner spray. You may purchase the spray at most automotive retail stores.

Test each battery. Disconnect each battery from the golf cart. Attach the two wire leads of the 12-volt battery tester to the terminals of the battery. Replace batteries reading less than 12 volts.

    • 3

Reset the motor. Remove the rear panel of the golf cart and expose the motor. Find a small red button. Most times, the button is located near where the wires enter the motor. Push the button.

    • 4

Test the electrical socket used to charge the batteries. Plug the 120-volt tester into the outlet. If the wall socket reads lower than 120 volts, discontinue use of the socket and call an electrician.

    • 5

Check the key hole and key switch. Make sure there are no obstructions keeping the key from fully turning to the "on" position. Ensure that the key switch position is on "reverse" or "forward." If the cart is not moving, check to make sure it is not on the "neutral" position.
