How to Grow Your Fuchsia Plant
Fuchsia plants brighten up gardens and landscapes with blooms that come in a variety of colors. Particularly popular in hanging baskets and containers, fuchsias will not flower in temperatures above 76 degrees Fahrenheit. They prefer warm days where the temperature remains between 60 and 70 degrees and night temperatures that are between 50 and 60 degrees. If you care for the fuchsia plant properly, it will continue to grow and flower every year. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Fill a hanging basket or 6-inch container 1/3 of the way full with potting soil. Water the soil to moisten it before you plant the fuchsia plant.
-
2
Remove the fuchsia flower from its nursery container. Tilt the container on its side and squeeze it gently to loosen the soil. Remove the root ball and loosen the roots so that they will spread in the new basket or container.
-
-
3
Set the fuchsia flower in the dampened soil. Spread the roots and then add the rest of the soil around the plant.
-
4
Water the soil thoroughly to keep it moist. Morning is the best time of day to water.
-
5
Set the plant in an area with indirect sunlight. It needs bright and indirect sunlight to grow. It will suffer if placed in direct sunlight.
-
6
Apply a liquid all-purpose fertilizer every two to four weeks between the first and the last frost. Do not fertilize the fuchsia plant two weeks before winter.
-
7
Store the fuchsia plant in an area with a temperature of 45 to 50 degrees F during the winter. Water the flower to keep the soil from drying out. Move the plant outdoors in the spring.
