When you make the decision to move, the large task of packing up your home lies ahead of you. There's a particular time frame and order that should be followed when packing up your belongings. Start the packing process five to six weeks before your moving date. This will help ensure you aren't rushing in the last few days.

Pack all of your clothes and belongings that aren't being used. For example, if you are moving during warm weather, you can pack all of your winter clothes.

Label each box, stating what the box contains and where it should go in the new house. Make sure everything is labeled on the top of the box, where someone can easily see it without having to search on the box.

Pack each box up to the point that you can carry it. The heavier the box, the harder it becomes to move.

Wrap delicate items in newspaper, and place them in boxes that are lined with bubble wrap. Make sure to label "Fragile" onto boxes with delicate items.

Lay out a week's worth of clothes seven days before the moving date, so you can start to pack up your closet without worrying about what you will have to wear.

Plan a week's worth of meals before the moving date, and make sure you have plenty of throwaway plates, cups and cutlery. One you've done this, you can pack up your kitchen in the seven days before the move.
