Replacing Strings on a Fender Guitar
Replacing the strings on a Fender guitar is much like replacing the strings on many other guitars. However, the guitar strings on Fender electric guitars string through the back of the guitar.

1
Remove the old strings from your guitar by turning the tuning key of each string to loosen its tension. Then unwind the string from each tuning machine and pull it through the bridge of the guitar to remove it.
-
2
Take the thinnest (lowest gauge) string and guide it through the hole in the back of the guitar that corresponds to the bridge hole for that string. Then guide the string through the hole in its corresponding tuning machine.

3
Give the string a couple inches of slack so that it will be able to wrap around the tuning machine a few times while you tighten it. Then turn the tuning key to tighten the string. Once tightened, use a pair of wire cutters to cut off the excess string. Then use a tuner to adjust the tension of the string to its desired pitch.

4
Repeat for all strings.
