1
Test the humidity level of the room where the dehumidifier is running with a humidity gauge. Your dehumidifier will run less frequently as the humidity or moisture in the room begins to decrease or is below 40 percent.
-
2
Observe the unit and see if the defrost control is activated. The compressor will cycle on and off when the defrost control is activated, which will make less water.
-
-
3
Check the unit to make sure that there is nothing blocking or restricting the airflow into the dehumidifier. Move the dehumidifier away from any blinds or furniture in order for it to run efficiently.
-
4
Verify that all doors and windows in your home are closed. If any are open, the dehumidifier will not be able to keep up with the humidity.
Power
-
5
Verify that the power cord is plugged in. If it is, a breaker may have tripped. Check behind the circuit panel to see if it has. Reset the breaker to provide power to the unit.
-
6
Pull out the water container that is on the front of the dehumidifier and see if it is full. The unit will not turn on if the container is full of water. Empty the container and then wait for the dehumidifier to come back on.
-
7
Unplug the unit and then plug it back in if the power indicator light is flashing at 5Hz. This will reset the temperature sensor.
