How to Use a Brother P-Touch Label System
The Brother P-touch label system is a tool to help you get organized. It can create labels for CDs, clothing, photos, files, toys, games and just about anything that is made out of plastic, glass, wood, paper, cloth or metal. These labels are waterproof and can easily be wiped clean. The label tape comes in different sizes and color. Labels can be created for both the home and office. Several choices of fonts and styles are available depending on which P-touch system you have.

Open the cover by lifting both sides at the same time. Insert the tape cartridge and press it to snap in place. Insert new AA-size alkaline batteries. Make sure that their poles point in the right direction by matching the symbols in the battery case to the symbols on the batteries. Turn the P-touch label system on.

Adjust the settings for language by pressing the FN button and then scroll the menu using the arrow keys. Press the ok button to enter the language.

Select Helsinki or Bohemia font by pressing the F1 or F2 button. Use the shift key or caps key to create capital letters.

Press the FN button and select size. Use the arrow keys to select the font size. The fonts range in size from 6 point to 26 point on most of the P-touch label systems. Press ok to enter the font.

Press the FN button to select a style. Use the arrow keys to select a style; normal, bold, outline, shadow, italic, italic bold, italic outline, italic shadow or vertical. Press OK to enter a style.

Enter a symbol on the label by pressing the symbol key. Use the arrow keys to navigate the symbol choices. Press the enter button to type the symbol on your label.

Place an underline or frame around the words by pressing the FN button and selecting frame/underline. The choices are; underline, round, candy, callout, banner, wooden, vine, hand or flower.

Delete a character by pressing the backspace arrow button. Proofread the label before printing.

Press the print button. The tape will feed out of the P-touch. Cut the tape by pushing the tape cutter lever after the tape has stopped feeding. Peel the backing off of the label and apply the label to an item. Be sure the item is clean before applying the label.

Tips & Warnings
Choose a size and color of tape to match your project.
To keep from wasting tapes type a whole line before printing.
Use extra-strength adhesive tape for tools and machinery.
Use flexible tape for labels that need to bend or wrap around surfaces.
Choose acid-free adhesive tape for photos and scrapbooks.
For computers and expensive equipment, use security tamper-evident tape.
Use the fabric iron-on tape for clothing, uniforms and bedding.
Choose the narrow tape for CD spines and narrow items.
