How to Make a Polar Fleece Baby Blanket
Anyone who would like to make a baby blanket but is intimidated by the sewing involved should consider polar fleece. Fleece does not need to be hemmed or lined, and making a blanket is a quick project that doesn't require prior crafting experience. Polar Fleece can generally be found anywhere material is sold, is machine washable and is popular enough to offer a large selection of patterns and colors.
Things You'll Need
- 2 yards of Polar Fleece (1 yard each of different but coordinating colors)
- Scissors
- Straight Pins

1
Lay one yard of fleece on top of the other, with any patterns facing out. If necessary, trim edges to make the pieces the same size. Secure the two pieces of fleece together with several straight pins on each edge.
-
2
Cut a fringe around the circumference of the fleece by making 5-inch-long cuts spaced 2 inches apart. Make sure to cut through both pieces of fleece.

3
Take one of the pieces of fringe you cut and separate the two pieces of fleece. Tie them in a firm knot. Work your way around the blanket, tying the pieces of fringe together until there are no loose pieces left.
-
4
Remove all the straight pins.
