Getting a marriage license in New York City is not difficult, but does require some preparation and foresight. Since a marriage license in the state of New York is valid for 60 days, save yourself some stress and don't leave it until the last minute.

      Fill out the online New York City marriage license application and submit it to the City Clerk through the "City Clerk Online" option. This can be found at:

      Appear in person at your local Office of the City Clerk with your prospective spouse to complete the application process. The application you began online must be signed in person.
