How to Clean Carpet With Lysol

Lysol all-purpose solution is a great cleaner to have in the house, as it can be used to clean and disinfect a variety of things. One task you can use this solution for is cleaning carpets, whether you are dealing with an old stain, or just want to freshen and remove any germ buildup. If you have a carpet cleaning task ahead of you, grab a bottle of Lysol all-purpose solution and get your floors looking their best.

Step 1

Fill a plastic bottle with 2 parts Lysol solution and 1 part warm water. Shake the bottle a few times to mix the solution and water well.

Test a small area of carpet first with the solution by spraying it and allowing it to sit for at least 15 minutes, then use a damp sponge to rub in the solution. Use a dry cloth to soak up the moisture. Allow the spot to dry. If the color of the carpet is unchanged, continue.

Step 3

Spray any stained areas liberally with the solution and spray the rest of the carpet, if you are cleaning all of it, with a light mist of solution. Let the solution sit for half an hour.

Step 4

Use a damp sponge to gently rub out stains on any stained areas. Don’t press too hard, just do gentle wipes, to ensure you aren’t pressing the stain deeper into the carpet.

Step 5

Spray one more time over the entire carpet and wait about 10 minutes, then vacuum the entire carpet and allow it to dry for at least a few hours before walking on it.
