How to Get Melted Wax Off a Tablecloth thumbnail
Melted wax comes off fabric easily with a little work.

Romantic dinners, candle and lotion making crafts and other accidents can result in melted wax on your tablecloths. Remedying and removing the melted wax proves to be a cleaning project achievable by nearly anyone. With a few household items, removing melted wax from your tablecloths eliminates the need for disposing of them or having them dry cleaned. Melted wax, although tenacious, yields to heat and pressure.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix 2 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol in a plastic spray bottle. Shake vigorously to mix the solution.

    • 2

Fold a single paper towel in half. Spray one side with the solution.

    • 3

Place the moist side of the folded paper towel down onto the melted wax, after it has hardened.

    • 4

Place the hot iron directly onto the paper towel and apply pressure firmly for about 20 seconds.

    • 5

Lift one corner of the folded paper towel and peel it away from the tablecloth. It should pull the softened wax up with it. Repeat steps 2 through 4 until the wax comes up.
