You may always remember to clean the lint trap inside your dryer, but there are other places where lint collects. Lint is the threads, hairs and bits and pieces that come off of your clothes every time you wash and dry them. Lint buildup in dryers can cause house fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Clean your dryer exhaust duct on a regular basis to prevent serious problems. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Wet-dry vacuum
  • Vacuum attachments

Instructions

    • 1

      Place the long hose attachment onto your wet-dry vacuum cleaner.

    • 2

      Pull off the end of the dryer exhaust duct that is attached to your dryer.

    • 3

      Place the wet-dry vacuum hose into the detached dryer exhaust duct, and turn the vacuum on.

      Vacuum as far up the dryer exhaust duct as you can.

    • 5

      Turn off the vacuum cleaner, and remove the vacuum attachment from the duct. Re-attach the dryer exhaust duct to the dryer.

      Remove the dryer exhaust duct vent plate on the outside of your house.

    • 7

      Turn on the vacuum, and clean the duct as far up it as you can. Turn off the vacuum and remove the attachment from the duct.

    • 8

      Replace the exhaust duct vent plate into the outside wall of the house.
