How to Clean Around Gas Cook Stove Burners
When the top of a gas stove gets full of cooking spills, especially around the gas burners, this accumulated grime needs to be cleaned off. Some foods boil over, which leaves water and some food residue that should be cleaned as quickly as it is possible to do when the stove has cooled. These stains can harden, making removal and cleaning harder to accomplish; this becomes more difficult when more than one spill-over needs to be removed. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Add dish detergent to hot water in your sink. Remove burner grates, caps and control knobs. Put your rubber gloves on and put the grates, caps and control knobs in the water.
-
2
Wet your sponge and squeeze it out. Scrub the stove top with the scrubbing side of the sponge, giving special attention to the burned-on stains surrounding the burners.
-
-
3
Sprinkle a small amount--up to 1 tbsp.--baking soda to any particularly stubborn stains and squeeze a small amount of water over the baking soda. Allow the baking soda and water to combine and work to lift the remainder of the stains.
-
4
Scrub the stove top parts--control knobs, grates and burner tops--with the scrubbing side of your sponge. Rinse these well and put them in a dish drainer to air-dry.
-
5
Return to the burned-on stains and remove the water/baking soda mixture. By now, the remainder of the stains should have softened and should lift off with little effort. Rinse with hot, clean water and dry with some paper towel.

Tips & Warnings
The baking soda and water help to soften burned-on cooking spills. Allow this mixture to stay on top of the spills for five minutes before cleaning it off.
Use a nonabrasive scrubbing sponge to clean the areas around your stove burners so you don’t scratch the paint surface.
