How to Make String Bracelet Designs
Making designs with string bracelets (also called friendship bracelets) can be an easy or tricky process depending on which design you choose. Design range from simple color crossing to intricate patterns involving hearts, stars, glasses and words. For all string bracelet patterns, all you will need is the requisite number of string colors. Making a string bracelets is a highly portable craft and will help you to stave off boredom at the airport, on long journeys or anytime you are waiting. Find a pattern that you like on a website, such as How-to-make-jewelry.com and print out the pattern. Use the pattern to create your own version of the string bracelet.

Use a string bracelet pattern creation tool, such as the one found at Friendship-bracelets.net. This tool allows you to create your own pattern and enter the pattern into their extensive bracelet pattern datable.

Click on the “Generator” tab on Friendship-bracelets.net.

Choose the “Normal Pattern Generator”, “Alpha Generator”, or “Generator 2.1”. To use Generator 2.1 you must already have an updated version of Java installed in your computer. Visit Java.com to install the program on your computer.

Enter your pattern into the pattern creation tool. Be sure to specify the amount of string to use and which colors. For alphabet patterns, you should only use 2 colors of string. Otherwise it becomes too difficult to tie off the bracelet at the end of the project.

Save the pattern on the site or print it out to save a hardcopy.
