How to Determine an HP Printer Administrator Code

The administrator code of an HP printer is also called its "password." This is present on certain models of HP printers that are designed to run on networks and computer servers. Once you know the code, you can set permissions for other computers and users relating to who can and cannot use the printer.

Instructions

1. Locate the original instruction manual that came with your HP printer. Open it up and flip to the table of contents.

2. Look for the page number for the section on logging in to your HP printer as an HPDPS administrator. The page number of this information will vary depending on which manual you are reading, which in and of itself varies depending on which model of printer you have.

3. Flip to the page for the section on logging into your HP printer as an HPDPS administrator. This section contains your HP printer default administrator code. Once logged in, you can change this code to whatever you want.
