How to Make a Sound Effect of a Jet Plane

Jet engines make a very distinctive sound.

If you are filming a movie, television show, play or video that involves airplanes, making the sound effect of a jet aircraft will be useful. Jet aircraft sounds are loud, flowing and distinctive. You can make a realistic-sounding jet using only slightly modified household items and a little creativity.

Things You'll Need

• Handheld vacuum
• Screwdriver
• 3-inch metal tube

Instructions

1. Remove the funnel from the vacuum, using a screwdriver if necessary. You will see the filter. Remove it.

2. Attach the metal tube to the front of the vacuum. Secure the tube, making sure as little air as possible escapes from the vacuum.

3. Turn on the vacuum to the highest setting. It should produce a very loud jetlike sound.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure the vacuum is empty. If not, you may be spraying dust and debris at high speed across the room.
