How to Find Registered Sex Offenders in North Carolina

If you are planning to move to a new neighborhood, you may want to find out if any sex offenders live in the area before purchasing a home or signing a lease on an apartment. If you live in North Carolina, search for registered sex offenders using the North Carolina Offender Registry website. You can search for offenders by location or name and view offense details.

      Go to the North Carolina Offender Registry webpage (see Resources) and click "I agree" to search for sex offenders by location or name.

      Look to the "Find Offenders Near You by Address" section of the page and enter your address and city and click "Find Address." A map of your area will open with markers that show where the offender lives. You can view sex offenders in up to a five-mile radius of your home. Click a marker to view the offender's information, including his name and crime.

      Look to the "Offender Search" section of the page to search for a sex offender by name. Enter the offender's first and last name and his address. Check the box next to "Include Incarcerated Offenders" to include inmates in your search. Click "Search the Registry." A list of offenders matching the information you entered will open; click the offender's name to view his location and offense.
