How to Make Anklet Socks Trimmed With Lace
Lace-trimmed anklet socks are a sweet look for girls of all ages. Commercial versions are often sold in white or pastel colors, but can be difficult to find in other colors and are often expensive compared to the cost of plain socks. Create your own wardrobe of lace-trimmed anklets in your own custom colors in just one afternoon. Whether you're making the socks for an infant or a rockabilly teen, they'll be a welcome gift that won't be found in stores.

1
Open up the cuff of your anklet sock so that the sock is all one layer. Measure the distance around the sock opening. This will be the length of your lace.
-
2
Cut a piece of lace the same length that you measured on the sock. Cut the lace carefully so that the two ends of the lace will meet without overlapping.

3
Pin the lace to the outside of the sock opening starting where the inside center of the ankle will hit. Lay the lace so the the top of the lace piece is overlapping the top edge of the sock, and the rest of the lace is sticking up above the sock. Pin the lace all around the sock opening so that both ends of the lace just touch.
-
4
Sew a running stitch around the top edge of the sock, using thread that matches the sock, to stitch the lace to the sock opening. Do not stretch the sock when you are sewing. Sew the ends of the lace together where they meet to make it look like one continuous piece of lace around the ankle.

5
Fold the cuff down to the correct position on the sock. Pin a small satin flower on the edge of the cuff where the outside of the ankle will touch. Stitch the satin flower to the sock cuff using small stitches in thread that match the sock. Create another sock in the same manner to finish your sock pair.
