Upgrade your computer with a new video card.

The Sony VAIO RC210G is a Windows desktop computer designed for power. It is suitable for both video games and video editing with its high amount of provided RAM and processor speed. However, if you find the current video card is not up to your standards it is possible to remove the current card and install an upgraded card into the system yourself. Instructions

    • 1

Power down the Sony VAIO RC210G and wait for the computer to completely turn off. Remove the cables connected to the exterior of the computer and remove the Phillips screws attached to the rear of the system.

    • 2

Slide open the computer case and look toward the back of the system. Here you find several cards connected to PCI expansion slots. These are horizontal slots attached to the large computer circuit board known as the motherboard. The video card you want to replace is the card you connect your monitor to (look on the outside of the computer case for the connection port your monitor connects to).

    • 3

Push down on the small plastic flaps on the side of the PCI card slot your video card connects to. This unlocks the card slot. Slide the video card out of the unlocked slot.

    • 4

Insert the new video card into the empty card slot and push up on the plastic flaps to lock the card into place. Close up the computer case, tighten the Phillips screws and plug the cables back into the computer system.

    • 5

Power on the computer and wait for the Windows operating system to load. Insert the driver installation CD and wait for the installation wizard to load. Once it does, follow the short series of prompts to completely install the new video card's drivers.
