How to Create a Digimon Card

The Digimon card game is an extension of the television and video game franchise. Players use cards that represent the creatures of the universe to battle against their opponents for victory. While new cards for the Digimon card game are no longer released in America, that doesn't mean you have to stop playing. Players can create their own cards by following the structure of existing cards, meaning you can create an entire army of new Digimon monsters to control, by either using the franchise or inventing your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new document in a drawing software program such as MS Paint or Paintbrush. Set the dimensions of the document at 2.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches high, the size of a playing card.

    • 2

Find the main image you want to use on the card. You can locate this image on a Digimon fan site, scan your own pictures into your computer or draw them in the drawing program. Paste the image into your document and resize it so that it measures 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches. Drag it to just below the top of the document.

    • 3

Open a text box that starts from the bottom left corner of the image. Extend the box half an inch across the image, then down to the bottom of the card.

    • 4

Type “Attack” into the text box, then press “Enter.” Type in an attack value for your Digimon directly beneath. Press “Enter.” Repeat beneath with “Defense” and a number.

    • 5

Move down to the bottom of the text box and enter a card number and rarity. Use any number you wish for the card number and input a word like “Unique” for rarity since it is a one-of-a-kind card.

    • 6

Open a new text box directly to the right of the first. Extend the box to the right end of the image and down to the bottom of the card.

    • 7

Type in the name of the Digimon on the first line. Use the name of an existing Digimon that matches the photo or a new name if you've created your own monster.

    • 8

Type in the Digimon family beneath the name of the card. Use families such as “Nature Spirits” or “Jungle Troopers” to designate the type of creature you've created.

    • 9

Enter the special effect of your Digimon below the family. This is a power used in battle, such as boosting the attack of other monsters or reducing battle damage by half.

    • 10

Add the name of the next stage of your Digimon's evolution at the bottom of the text box. Follow along the path of existing Digimon or create your own stages if you wish to make multiple unique cards.

    • 11

Open a text box in the top left corner of the document. Enter the level of your Digimon to the box. The levels available are Rookie, Champion, Ultimate and Mega. Use lower levels if your Digimon can evolve.

    • 12

Print your Digimon card onto card stock. Color in the back of the card with colored pencils or markers.

    • 13

Cut out the card and add it to your Digimon deck.

Tips & Warnings

  • While Digimon monster cards are the most common cards, you can also make Digi-Destined, Digivolve and Digi-Modify cards using the steps above. Replace the information on the card with those found on the other card types.
