How to Install an Auto Air Conditioning Cabin Filter in my Acura RL

Driving in heavy traffic regularly can cause your cabin air filter to require replacement more quickly.

The Acura RL has a single cabin air filter located behind the glove compartment. Acura recommends changing the cabin air filter once every year or every 15,000 miles. Driving in heavy traffic conditions will cause the cabin filter to become dirty and require replacement more quickly. A dirty cabin air filter restricts airflow to the air conditioning system, which makes the air conditioning system motors work harder.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the glove compartment. Unhook the stop bar on the right side of the open glove compartment by lifting the bar off the rod.

    • 2

Push in toward the inside of the glove box on both sides to engage the glove box release. Lower the glove box toward the floor of the vehicle.

    • 3

Grasp the exposed portion of the cabin air filter frame. Pull it toward the rear of the vehicle to remove it.

    • 4

Pull the existing filter out of the frame. Insert the new filter into the frame, making sure the tabs on each corner overlap the filter.

    • 5

Insert the filter frame into the cabin air filter compartment. Push it in until it cannot go any further.

    • 6

Lift the glove box up to a normal open position. The glove box will hook back into position automatically. Replace the stop bar by hooking it on the rod.
