How to Remove DRM From Rhapsody in Vista

How to Remove DRM From Rhapsody in Vista thumbnail
Audio capturing software allows you to remove the DRM from a song played in Rhapsody in real time.

DRM, or Digital Rights Management, is a codec, which is a line of code that is embedded into an audio or video file and is used to prevent digital piracy. DRM limits the applications that will play an audio or video file and prevents the files from being burnt to a disc, shared with friends, or synced to an MP3 player. While DRM can be removed, you should never remove the DRM codec from a file of which you are not the copyright owner.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your audio capturing software. There are many different types of software available for users with Windows Vista. Examples of such software are WM Capture 2.0, Replay Music, Sound Taxi and Tunebite.

    • 2

Log in to Rhapsody. Load all of the songs that you would like to remove the DRM codec from into a playlist.

    • 3

Ensure that the input settings on the audio capture software are set to “Stereo Mix.”

    • 4

Click “Record” on the audio capture software and then click “Play” on the Rhapsody player. Allow the song to play through and then click “Stop” on your audio recording software. Repeat this process for each song. Each individual track will be located in the output folder of your audio recording software. Some audio recording applications will allow you to record multiple songs at once. Additionally, the software will insert data about the track such as the artist, track name and genre.
