How to Convert an Email Body to an Attachment
There may come a time when you desire to take the body of an email and convert it to an attachment to create more presentable-looking email, especially if the email body is a long chain of forwards and replies. You can even edit the body of the email to only put the pertinent information in the attachment. Keep in mind that when you change the email body to an attachment, the person you are sending the email to will need to have the appropriate program to open the attachment.
Instructions
-
-
1
Open the email so that you can see and interact with the body. Click anywhere in the body of the email.
-
2
Press “Control + A” to select everything in the body of the email. The information in the email should change color now that it is selected.
-
-
3
Press “Control + C” to copy the information in the body of the email to the clipboard.
-
4
Open up your word processing software. If the email only has text, you can use any word processing software, but if there were pictures in the email, you will need software that can handle pictures, like Word or WordPerfect. If one does not appear automatically, open a new document.
-
5
Press “Control + V” in the word processing software to paste the information from the body of the email to the document.
-
6
Save the file. The process for saving it may be different for different software, but most will have you click on “File” and then “Save” or will have a disk at the top left of the screen. Type the file name into the box and choose the type of file to save it as, then click on “Save.” Close the word processing software.
-
7
Open a new email and enter the recipient’s address in the “To:” box. Press the paperclip icon or press “Insert” and choose “File attachment” to open the attachment box. This process may be a bit different depending on your email software, but they are all very similar when it comes to attachments.
-
8
Navigate to the file that you just saved and press “Insert.” The old email body is now an email attachment.
