How to Restore a Dell E510 to Factory Settings With a Disk

The Dell E510 desktop computer will occasionally need to have the factory settings restored in order to give maximum performance. Normal use combined with viruses and other malware will gradually wear Microsoft Windows Vista to the point where it will begin displaying errors and perhaps cease to run at all.

When this happens, you can use a disc to restore your Dell desktop to like-new operating condition and give you a blank slate with which to use your computer once again.

Things You'll Need

  • Dell Windows install DVD
  • Dell Resource CD/DVD

Tips & Warnings

  • Some devices might not work if the drivers are not installed in the correct order. Follow the order listed here for best results.

  • There will be an “x” to mark which drivers on the Resource CD/DVD apply to your particular system. If in doubt, enter your service tag number on the Dell Drivers and Downloads page (see Resources) to download the specific drivers there.

  • If you have replaced your modem or any other device, install the drivers for the new device instead of the Dell-supplied drivers when the time comes in the driver installation process.

  • Connect to Windows Update and install any updates that were made to your Windows Vista operating system after you restore your Dell E510 to factory settings.
