CD mailers can be expensive and hard to find. If you need to mail a CD, you can make your own protective CD mailers using a few common materials. Homemade CD mailers are just as protective as store bought ones and only a fraction of the cost. CD mailers can also be used to mail DVDs, mini DVs, SD cards or any other relatively thin objects that you do not want to risk getting bent in the mail.

Things You'll Need

  • Bubble wrap, printer paper or parchment paper
  • White poster board
  • Scissors
  • Heavy duty tape
  • Marker

Fold a piece of bubble wrap, printer paper or parchment paper around the CD. This will help to protect it from getting scratched while in transit. Skip this step if the CD is already enclosed in a hard plastic case.

Cut a piece of white poster board so that it is approximately 1 inch wider than the CD on all sides when the paper is folded in half over the CD.

Fold the paper in half over the CD.

Seal the edges of the poster board with heavy duty tape. Heavy duty mailing tape or duct tape works well.

Write “Do not bend” on both sides of the envelope. Write clearly using a thick marker.
