Press the "F8" key repeatedly while the computer is rebooting. Choose "Safe Mode" when the Windows XP startup screen appears.

Log on to your computer in safe mode and run your anti-spyware and antivirus programs. A virus or spyware infection is one of the most common causes of a continuous reboot cycle.

Click on the "Start" button and choose "Control Panel" from the menu. Double-click on the "Add or Remove Programs" icon and remove any recently installed software. A malfunctioning software program will often cause an XP computer to reboot.
