1
Find the appropriate height for your workbench and measure down from the ceiling using the measuring tape. Add four inches to this height and then mark the wall with a pencil. Using a level to make sure the marks are even, make another mark every 32 inches onto studs on the wall. Attach the metal brackets to the wall using the marks as a guide, using the 5/16 inch lag bolts.

Cut the 2-by-4 piece of wood and the 24 inch piece of scrap wood into six pieces measuring 22 and a half inches using a circular saw. These will be the support pieces. Lay one support piece perpendicularly on the top of each of the four brackets, with the top of the support piece against the wall. Secure in place using a power drill and wood screws.

Cut three pieces of 2-by-4 measuring 109 inches. Lay one piece against the wall on top of the other support pieces attached in the previous step. Lay one in the middle, and one on the front edge of the support pieces that are attached to the brackets. Attach all three pieces to the shorter perpendicular supports, using the 10 penny nails and a hammer. Attach the two remaining shorter pieces of wood from the previous step to each end of the parrallel supports using the nails.

Cut the remaining 2-by-4 to 110 and 1/2 inches and attach it to the front of the support pieces using the nails and hammer. Cut the particle board to a panel measuring 110 and a half inches using the circular saw, then cut again to make two 24-inch panels. Stack the panels on top of each other and then attach them to all the support pieces using the hammer and nails, creating the top of your workbench.
