Hello Kitty is a character created by Yuko Shimizu from Japan. Hello Kitty's popularity grew far beyond Japan in to the United States. Instructions

    • 1

Take a look at a Hello Kitty image. If you do not have one you can use the image in the resource section of this article. The image will give you an idea of what Hello Kitty looks like.

    • 2

Purchase a dark pink t-shirt with a lighter pink jumper dress to go over it. This is what Hello Kitty wears.

    • 3

Use a pair of white stockings for the legs, and white gloves for the hands. You can then either wear white or pink shoes to complete the clothing for your Hello Kitty costume.

    • 4

Use a large piece of poster board to cut out a Hello Kitty head. Use the image to know what shape to cut out. You have two options here. You can either cut out two small holes where the eyes are and look through there, or you can cut a large hole where the mouth is to fit your entire head.

    • 5

Use permanent markers to draw in Hello Kitty's eyes, nose, and whiskers. You can use black for the eyes and whiskers, but you may want to use pink for the nose.

    • 6

Attach a pink bow to the right ear of the Hello Kitty face. Do this with a hot glue gun.

    • 7

Try the Hello Kitty face on. Note where your ears are. Now attach a piece of elastic that fits from one ear to the other ear on the poster board. Glue the ends in place with the hot glue gun. This way you can keep the Hello Kitty head on without having to hold it in place.

Put all of the pieces of your Hello Kitty costume on and have a fun time trick or treating.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can draw the bow on the Hello Kitty face with a permanent marker if you do not have a real bow to add. You can staple the elastic in place if you don't think the hot glue will hold it. If you choose to cut out a hole for your entire face, you may want to paint your face white with some face paint.
