How to Build a Castle Bunk Bed
Building a castle facade to go behind a set of bunk beds is a nice way to make the beds a focal point of a little girl's princess-themed bedroom. Completing a castle bunk bed requires just a few basic woodworking materials and tools. With some tips and know-how, making a castle bunk bed by hand can be a simple and rewarding process.

Measure the height and width of the bunk bed set you are building the castle for. These measurements will determine the size of the plywood board you use. Purchase a plywood sheet from a building store. Building supply stores can cut the piece to size to match the measurements you need.

Draw a castle shape onto the board with a pencil. Make sure the drawing takes up the entire space of the board. Draw two tall columns with triangle tops, which look like typical castle turrets. Make the middle of the castle shorter than the turrets.

Cut out the castle using a hand saw. Follow the lines of the markings you made with the pencil until you have a castle cut out from the board.

Smooth down the entire board with sand paper. Sand down the surface to remove rough spots and run the sand paper over the newly cut edges, to prevent splinters.

Paint the castle in colors of your choosing. A neutral background like cream or tan works well. Paint the triangle tops of the turrets a pastel color like pink or purple. Paint a brick pattern on the castle and green vines snaking up the castle wall. Let dry.

Nail the castle facade to the wall space where you want the bunk beds to go. Push the bunk bed set up against the castle so the board acts as a background for the set.
