How to Get a Chat Room Screen Name
Free chat room websites such as Yahoo, Google, MSN, AOL or Windows Live allow you to create free screen names for their chat room communities. Since there are so many online users with screen names, it is important for you to select a unique screen name that isn't already taken. Websites such as Yahoo and AOL make it simple for you to sign up with their sites and fill out question and answer surveys to set you up with a screen name for chat rooms as well as other accounts such as email.

Type in website address. Search or type in the Web address of a website that offers a free screen name for its website chatrooms. Click the "Join" button on the site to become part of that online community.

Create a screen name for yourself by typing the moniker in the box titled "Screen name." Click the "OK" button and then wait for the site to inform you if someone else has that screen name. Click the "Password" box if the screen name is available.

Select password you will remember. Type a password that you will remember in the "Password" box. Press the "Tab" button or select the field below the "Password" box to retype your password. Click on the "Security Questions" drop-down menu and select a question. Type in an answer and then retype it again in the space below it.

Skip questions for faster process. Answer the list of questions such as birthday, gender, location and real name or choose to skip the section and fill it out at another time once you've completed your screen name application. Read the "Terms of Service" agreement and click "yes" if you agree or "no" if you don't. Selecting "no" will cancel the screen name process.

Type the numbers that appear in the "Security Check" section and then click "Submit."

Select "Security Questions" with answers you'll remember easily.
Pick a screen name that has both letters and numbers as it is less likely someone will have the same name.
