How to Create a Windows 98 SE Startup Disk Free

Microsoft Windows 98 SE allows you to easily create a start-up disk for free. You can use this disk to start your Windows 98 SE computer when normal start-up fails. According to Craig Stinson’s "Running Microsoft Windows 98," this disk can be used on any Windows 98 SE computer, but not on computers running other versions of Windows, such as 2000, XP or Vista.

      Insert a blank diskette in your computer's diskette drive.

      Insert the Windows 98 setup compact disc in the CD drive.

      Double-click the “My Computer” icon on the Desktop.

      Double-click the CD drive icon in the "My Computer" window.

      Double-click the “Tools” folder.

      Double-click the “Mtsutil” folder.

    • 7

      Double-click the “Fat32ebd” folder.

    • 8

      Double-click the “Fat32ebd.exe” icon. This will create the start-up disk.
