How to Make an Airsoft Gun Shoot Harder

How to Make an Airsoft Gun Shoot Harder thumbnail
Airsoft guns resemble real guns in looks only.

Airsoft guns fall into the category of hobby guns. They are not real and, rather than bullets, they fire six millimeter plastic pellets that weigh no more than 0.25 grams each, according to the RedWolf Airsoft website. Airsoft guns are exact replicas of real gun models. In fact, many are hard to distinguish apart from their real counterparts without close inspection. These guns do not cause life-threatening injuries, but you should not use them in closed environments. You can make an airsoft gun shoot harder, but it still will not cause an extensive amount of damage unless you're at close range.

Instructions

    • 1

Completely unload the gun of all pellets. If the spring coil is in the compressed mode for shooting, decompress it. Remove magazines or shooting clips if there are any in the gun.

    • 2

Find the screws that hold the top portion of the gun together. These are usually around the top of the barrel of the gun. In some cheaper models of guns, you may not find the screws at all. In such cases, you will have to lift the flaps that you see and remove them from the gun to expose the interiors. Remove the screws with the screwdriver and place them in a small bowl. Depending on the model, you may find one or more screws.

Look for the spring that runs along the length of the gun. Locate the end and carefully pull it out. Hold the ends of the spring with your hands and gently pull the coils apart, just enough to create a small space between them.

Use a very small amount of silicone spray to lubricate the spring. Reassemble the gun after you have lubricated the spring mechanism and both halves.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not attempt to dismantle and work on your gun if you are not confident about what you are doing. Otherwise, you may not be able to put it back together properly, or you could end up damaging the gun.

  • As you take apart your gun, place each part in a line in order from the first part you remove to the last. When you put your gun back together, start with the last part you removed and work your way back to the first part that you removed.

  • Allow an expert to work on the more expensive guns that you own.
