How to Install the Water Pump on a 1999 Protege
A faulty water pump can cause overheating or coolant leaks and may lead to engine damage. The water pump in a 1999 Mazda Protege is driven by the timing belt, and is often replaced when the timing belt is replaced to prevent future problems. Most auto-parts shops will have replacement pumps in stock or will order one if needed.
