How to Make an Epson 2200 Work Without Color Cartridges

How to Make an Epson 2200 Work Without Color Cartridges thumbnail
Print in just black and gray tones with your Epson 2200 printer.

The Epson 2200 printer works on both Windows and Mac systems. Although the device comes with two open cartridge slots for both color and black ink, you do not necessarily need to use the color cartridge. Color ink is more expensive than standard black ink, so if you are looking to cut costs you may want to skip out on purchasing colored ink for the Epson 2200 printer.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the program you want to print your gray scale document in.

    • 2

Select "File," "Open" and choose the document you want to print.

    • 3

Click "File," "Print" and wait for the print display window to load. Once open, select "Options."

    • 4

Check off the "Print in Grayscale" option. Select "OK" to approve the changes. Choose the amount of copies you want printed, select the "Epson 2200" as the default printer and click "OK" to print the document without the color cartridge.

To be more specific, the Stylus 2200 doesn't offer a "print in grayscale" option--well, mine doesn't. Maybe that was a bug and I never got the fix! I feel sooooo much better!

This would be great if it worked! But the Stylus 2200 doesn't OFFER an options dialogue.
