1
Sketch a basic image using a lead Prismacolor pencil or one of Prismacolor's graphite pencils. Start with something simple to get used to handling the pencils. Prismacolor pencils glide across your paper, so use light pressure. When you've completed your outline, thicken it with graphite.

2
Color your artwork using Prismacolor colored pencils. The pencils come in a variety of colors, but you can manipulate the colors with the Prismacolor blender pen. This pen, unique to Prismacolor, allows you to push the colors of your artwork together or layer them to create a wider color palette. To do this, lay down a base color first, then add another color over the top of it and go over the surface with the colorless blender pen, working the two layered colors in a circular motion until you've created your blended solid.

Apply marker color over your colored pencil artwork to give your artwork a painted effect. The Prismacolor double-ended marker has a satin-like quality that goes over the colored pencil and graphite to create a slick painted image. The double-ended marker has two ends. Apply paint-like strokes with the wide end of the marker in open areas, then go over the edges of your image with the fine-tipped end to give your artwork a painted look with clear highlights and bold shadows.
