How to Make a Wedding Basket
Wedding baskets come in different sizes and have different uses in different weddings. You may want to use the basket for your flower girl so she can carry the basket down the aisle before you. Alternatively, using the basket as a decorative element, either on the gift table or as a centerpiece, is popular. It doesn’t cost much to make wedding baskets, but it adds a quick and easy decorative element. Make the baskets any size you like, based on the space available and encourage guests to take one of the baskets home at the end of the night.

1
Pick a basket for the idea, based on the size and shape you need. If you’re making a basket for the flower girl or your attendants, look for a smaller size, with a thin handle for easy carrying. For centerpiece and decorative baskets, use a larger size that holds more flowers and decorations.

2
Cover a table with old newspapers and lay your basket on top. Hold the can of spray paint at least six-inches away from the basket and paint the outside. Turn the basket over to thoroughly coat all sides. Let the basket dry for several hours before applying a second coat. You may need additional coats, based on the basket material, as it might absorb the paint.

Tie a long piece of ribbon or tulle around the top of the basket handle or on the side of the handle. Tie the ribbon or tulle into a bow and trim the edges with your scissors. Add a second bow to the other side of the handle, if you prefer.

4
Fill the basket with Spanish moss, covering the bottom of the basket. The Spanish moss serves as a base for your flowers and adds more color to the wedding basket. Top with flowers that match those used in your wedding, such as tulips, daisies, roses or lilacs.

5
Add other decorations and decorative elements to the basket, based on the theme of your wedding. Pinecones and twinkle lights are both examples, but if you use twinkle lights, remember to pull the plug of the lights, from the basket. The decorations, fill in any dead spaces in your basket.

Tips & Warnings
For a flower girl basket, skip the Spanish moss and instead use crumpled tissue paper and fill with flower petals that match the flowers used in your wedding.
