How to Clean Sheep Skin Seat Covers

How to Clean Sheep Skin Seat Covers thumbnail
Wool has the natural ability to keep dirt away.

Properly cleaning sheep skin seat covers will prolong their life and keep them looking their best. Automotive Enhancement states that the wool of the sheep skin has natural abilities to deter dirt. In spite of this, however, seat covers can be soiled. While small stains can be spot treated, larger stains will need a more extensive cleaning. You can take the cover to a dry cleaner that knows how to treat sheep skin or you can attempt to clean it yourself at home. Cleaned properly, your sheep skin seat cover will last for years.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove your sheep skin seat cover from the seat. Shake out as much loose dirt as possible.

    • 2

Hand wash the sheep skin seat cover gently using mild soap in cool water. Preferably, use one designed for sheep skin. Ensure that the wool is thoroughly soaked and washed. Gently work the soap into the wool.

    • 3

Rinse thoroughly with clean cool water. Do not wring out excess water, but gently squeeze the sheep skin by hand.

    • 4

Stretch the sheep skin seat cover out into its original shape. Let dry away from direct sunlight. Do not use heat to dry it off. Keep in a well-ventilated area as it dries.

    • 5

Brush the wool with a coarse metal brush. Vacuum away any loose material. Brush and vacuum every month.
