How to Replace the Radiator on a 1999 Honda Civic
A damaged radiator leaks fluid and must be replaced or repaired. Most auto part shops have replacement radiators for common cars in stock or can order them. Replacing the radiator in a 1999 Honda Civic is simpler than in other cars--the only bolt is easy to find, and nothing gets in the way as the radiator and fan assembly slides out. The whole process should take about an hour.
Instructions

1
Drain the radiator into a container that holds at least 6.2 quarts. Remove the radiator cap and open the plastic drain plug on the rear of the radiator to allow the fluid to drain.
-
2
Squeeze the tabs on the hose clamps with a pair of pliers and slide them back. Unhook the hoses. There should be a large hose at the top and bottom of the radiator, and two small hoses at the bottom.

-
3
Unplug the electrical connector for the fan. It is near the top of the fan on the left side.
-
4
Remove the bracket at the top of the radiator with a 13mm wrench.
-
5
Slide the radiator up and out of the engine compartment. Unscrew the four bolts that connect the fan to the radiator and remove the fan. The bolts are also 13mm.
-
6
Replace the radiator. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure that the feet of the radiator seat themselves into the rubber cushions in the bottom of the radiator compartment.
-
7
Refill the radiator with the drained coolant and allow the car to warm up. Fill the coolant reservoir until the fluid level reaches the full line.

Tips & Warnings
Now is a good time to replace the coolant, but it isn't necessary.
Never open the radiator cap on an overheated car. Allow the car to cool down before working on the coolant system.
