How to Do PSP Tubes in Corel Paint Shop Pro 2 thumbnail
Draw flowers and rainbows by simply moving your mouse.

Corel, the maker of Paint Shop Pro 2. noted, "The passion for our Picture Tubes can only be described as an addiction." Some computer users find that to be true. Paintshop Pro tubes let you paint using images. For example, if you choose a "kitten" tube and move your brush across the canvas, you will create a trail of kittens wherever your mouse pointer touches the canvas. Use the default picture tubes that come with Paintshop Pro 2 or download new ones from the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Paintshop Pro 2 and press "CTRL+N" to create a new document. If you want to work on an existing image instead, press "CTRL+O" and select the file that you want to open from the File Selection window.

    • 2

Click the "Picture Tube" tool located in the toolbox on the left side of the screen, which opens the "Picture Tube" toolbar at the top of the screen.

    • 3

Click the arrow next to the word "Presets" to open a pop-up window. This window contains images of the available tubes.

    • 4

Click the arrow next to the drop-down box labeled "Category." You will see a list of categories. Select a category such as flowers to view only the tubes in that category.

    • 5

Type 50 in the "Scale" field located in the Picture Tube toolbar. The scale value determines how big the tube images will be. Larger values make the images larger and smaller values make the images smaller.

    • 6

Type 100 in the "Step" field located in the toolbar. The value for this property determines how far apart individual tube images appear when you paint using the mouse. Increase this value if you want to increase the separation between the images.

    • 7

Hold down your left mouse button and paint on the canvas. Images of your selected picture tube will appear along the path that you draw.

Tips & Warnings

  • Experiment with the picture tube settings such as "Scale" and "Step." Change the values, paint and then adjust the values again. Soon you will discover the optimal values that produce your desired effect. Instead of moving the mouse to draw picture tubes, you can also click on the canvas to paint a single picture tube image.
