How to Make Your Own Center Pieces
Making your own centerpieces allows you to customize your decorations, conveying your personality and any special theme you have. However, many people are not sure how to make centerpieces. The versatility of centerpieces allows you to make any size decoration suitable for your needs. Whether you need an informal decoration for a weekend barbecue or an elegant wedding table arrangement, a centerpiece will communicate the party theme and spirit. If you know what you want, you can make your own centerpieces and save a few dollars.
Things You'll Need
- Floral foam
- Water
- Glass plate
- Pink marabou feathers
- Shears
- Daisies
- Wire-edged silk ribbon
- Floral pick
- Medium-sized handled wicker basket
- Decorative paper shred
- Scented potpourri
- Plastic fruit
- Silk flowers
- Floral wire
- Wire cutters

Hot Pink Centerpiece

Soak the floral foam in a shallow pan of water. Leave the foam in the water for 2 to 3 minutes, then remove it and place it in a sink to allow any excess water to drain from the foam.

Place the foam on a decorative plate that is equal to or slightly larger than the foam shape.

Pin bright pink marabou feathers to the outside base of the foam.

Clip the stems of about a dozen or more of bright pink daisies to about 2 inches long.

Poke the flowers into the top of the wet foam, covering the foam with the flowers.

Fluff a wire-edged pink silk ribbon. Tie the ribbon to a floral pick using some floral wire. Poke the floral pick into the upper left-hand corner of the foam. Do not pierce your flowers.
Basket Arrangements

Fill the bottom of a medium-sized handled wicker basket with decorative paper shred.

Top the paper shred with 1 cup scented potpourri.

Fill the top of the basket with seasonal plastic fruit and flowers. For a fall arrangement, choose gourds, mini pumpkins and sunflower heads. Fill a summer basket with apples and apple blossoms. At Easter, fill the basket with plastic eggs and a ceramic rabbit.

Tie silk flowers to the left side of the basket handle using floral wire. Wrap the floral wire around the basket and clip away the excess with wire cutters.

Attach a silk ribbon to the handle to cover the floral wire.
