Screen Goo Instructionsthumbnail
Screen Goo allows you to create a permanent projection screen on your wall.

Screen Goo, developed and sold by Goo Systems Global, is a nifty product that allows you to create a custom projection screen on any interior wall. This results in a high-quality image displayed by your projector despite not having a standard projector screen. Applying Screen Goo is an involved process because the product requires several applications with hours of drying time; however, it is not a terribly difficult process; it's similar to painting an interior wall.

    Things You'll Need

    • Projector
    • Screen Goo kit
    • 2 Paint rollers
    • Roller pan
    • Painter's tape
      • 1

Set up your projector in its permanent location. Dim the lights and turn the projector on. Adjust the projected image using the controls on the projector. Make sure the projection is shown in the exact spot that you want it to be for permanent use.

      • 2

Tape off the sides of the image on the wall with painters tape. Be sure that the painter's tape is perfectly straight. If it's not, it may affect the painting of your screen goo.

      • 3

Pour the Screen Goo's reflective coat into a standard paint rolling tray. Gather your supplies, including your paint roller. For best results, Goo Systems Global recommends using a 1/4-inch nap, wool and polyester-blend roller. A foam roller is not recommended.

Paint a thin but smooth layer of the reflective coat onto the wall. Goo Systems Global recommends approximately 200ml of reflective coating, according to the company website. Be sure to stay within the box created by the painters tape. After applying the reflective coat, allow it to dry for about one hour, and then apply a second coat. Allow it to dry.

Paint a layer of the finish coat with a fresh paint roller. When painting on the finish coat, make sure you do not spread out your strokes longer than two minutes apart. Doing otherwise create a layered appearance on your screen. Allow the finish coat to dry for approximately one to two hours and apply a second coat.

      • 6

Add a border to your Screen Goo screen if desired. The kit comes with an ultra black finish that is specifically designed for borders. After your finish coat has dried for approximately 24 hours, create a seam with two layers of painter's tape around the screen. Paint the interior area surrounding the screen with the foam brush and the ultra black finish. Allow this to dry for four to six hours prior to removing the tape.

    Tips & Warnings

    • According to Goo Systems Global, some users like to lightly sand the area after letting the second reflective coat dry. This step is optional. If you choose to do this, use a light grade of sandpaper and work carefully.
