How to Create a Macro Icon

Microsoft Office applications such as Word or Excel make it possible to automate repetitive or difficult tasks by using Visual Basic for Applications, or VBA, to write macros. Macros automatically perform all the actions you would have had to perform manually. You can access your macros through the macro menu, or through a hot key. You can also add an icon to your quick access toolbar that can execute your macro at the click of a button.

Instructions

    • 1

Right click any toolbar, and click “Customize Quick Access Toolbar.”

    • 2

Select “Macros” from the “Choose commands from.”

    • 3

Select the macro and icon you want to create a button for from the list below the drop down, then click "Add" to the right of the list.

    • 4

Highlight the macro you just added by clicking it once, then click "Modify" to bring up an array of available icons. Choose one the icons then click "OK."

    • 5

Click “OK” to see your new macro icon on the Quick Access toolbar.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can remove the icon you added by right-clicking it and selecting "Remove from Quick Access Toolbar."
