How to Adjust Hinges
If your door does not close or hang properly, then the main culprit could be the hinges. Adjusting the hinges which control the security and movement of a door mechanism is a matter of adjusting the screws, and consequentially the tightness, of the hinges. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Open the door to get a good look at the hinges that require re-adjustment. If any screws are loose, if the hinge is not positioned properly or if the hinge seems unstable then this could give you a clue as to the problem. It is good to have an idea of what has caused the need for a hinge adjustment.

2
Tighten the screws which connect the door to the structure. There will be two screws at the top of the hinge which attach the hinge to the body of the cupboard, cabinet, or door frame. These screws have to be tightly in place; otherwise the whole door mechanism can be wobbly and unstable. Use a screwdriver to tighten these two screws in place.

3
Tighten the other screws. The two screws closest to you are connected to the door itself, and it is important they are securely in place otherwise the door can be loose and/or not open properly. Use your screwdriver to tighten these screws in place.

Move the hinge. It is possible that you may be having problems due to the positioning of the hinge. If you require altering the location of the hinges on your door unscrew all four hinges. Move the hinges to the new area and drill the screws in place into the doorframe or other structure and onto the door itself.
