How to Put a License Plate Holder on a Golf Cart
Although golf carts are not required by law to have a license plate, it is legal to install and display novelty license plates on a golf cart. Some golf carts come with a front license plate bracket and/or holes for mounting while others do not. Installing a license plate holder on the front or rear bumper of a golf cart is a simple task that almost anyone can do. It only requires a couple of basic steps and a few minutes of your time.
Things You'll Need
- License plate bracket
- 2 mounting screws
- 2 nuts
- Power drill
- Standard screwdriver
- Permanent marker

Closely inspect your bumper for any cracks, dirt, and debris. Repair the cracks and clean off any dirt or debris that is present.

Check to make sure your license plate bracket came with all the necessary hardware, including two mounting screws and two nuts. If it did not, acquire these parts before proceeding to the next step. If your license plate bracket does not come with screws and nuts, be sure to buy ones that will fit your specific bracket.

Permanent marker Measure the golf cart bumper and find the midpoint. Position your bracket in the middle of the bumper and mark the two hole points with a permanent marker.

Drill Remove the bracket and drill two holes where you made your marks. Be sure that your drill bit is the same size as your screws before drilling.

Screwdriver Replace the bracket and install the screws with a screwdriver. The screws should go in easily.

Reach behind the bumper and screw the nut onto the back of the screw to complete installation. You may now mount your license plate onto your newly installed bracket.
