  • Slip lock pliers
  • New string
  • Knife or wire cutters

Instructions

      Turn off the engine of the weed eater and disconnect the spark plug wire by gripping the wire head and pulling it off of the plug. Hold the string head of the weed eater and use the pliers to remove the line spool by turning it counterclockwise.

      Pull the spool away from the string head. Pull any string remaining in the spool out of the spool. Make sure that you keep the little spring in the spool while changing the line.

      Cut two lengths of line about 9 feet long using the knife.

      Insert one end of the string in to the anchor hole in the spool. Wrap the first string around the top half of the spool counterclockwise. Place the remaining end of the string in to the slot on the spool that holds the string and leave about 6 inches of string extending past the slot. Repeat with the second string, wrapping it around the bottom half of the spool.

      Screw the spool back on to the weed eater clockwise. Use the pliers to tighten it after it is hand-tight.
