How to Make a Popout Card
Homemade cards convey a message of time and care. Help your child celebrate a holiday or just say, "I love you" to a special person. Creating art together will develop her imagination and provide a sense of craftsmanship. Add a third dimension to your art experience by making a simple popout card.
Things You'll Need
- 2 pieces of construction paper
- Picture
- Tagboard (optional)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Assorted art supplies

Choose two pieces of paper. Use the same color or different colors for the inside and outside of the card. Fold each piece in half.

Take the inner piece of construction paper and make two cuts at the center of the fold. The width between the cuts should be slightly smaller than the popout picture. The cuts should be two to three inches long. Pop the cut section of the paper away from the crease so it stands up.

Glue the pieces of paper together. Do not glue the cut section of the inner paper. Keep it standing up away from the fold.

Choose a picture to popout of the card. Cut one from a magazine or draw your own. Consider gluing it to a piece of tagboard to reinforce. Glue the picture to the cut section inside the card. It should pop up when you open the card.

Use assorted art supplies to decorate the rest of the card as desired.
