Pipe cleaners are an essential tool for many fun crafts for kids. Using just a couple pipe cleaners and a few other craft materials, you can make some very cute finger puppets, such a cat, bunny and bird. For the cat, you can use whichever colors you like. If it’s Halloween time, just use black materials for everything to create a black cat.
Things You'll Need:
- 1 Tiny Pink Pom Pom
- 1 Pom Pom (About 1-Inch In Diameter)
- Wire Cutter
- Glue Gun Or White Glue
- 2 Googly Eyes
- 2 Pipe Cleaners
Take one pipe cleaner you’re going to use for the body of the cat. Wrap the pipe cleaner around your index finger, making it as tight as possible. Wrap it around until you reach the end of the pipe cleaner, resulting in cylindrical coil. Make sure the top of the coil forms a small circle, which is where you’ll glue on the head of the cat.
Glue the larger pom pom on top of the body to form the head.
Take the other pipe cleaner and cut off two pieces with your wire cutters. Each piece should be about ¾ inches long. Bend each piece in half to create a V-shape.
Glue each V on top of the pom pom head to form the ears. They should each point outwards at a diagonal, much like the ears of a real cat.
Glue the two googly eyes on the front of the pom pom for the cat eyes.
Glue the tiny pink pom pom below the eyes to create the nose.
Cut another piece off the remaining pipe cleaner that is about 2 inches long.
Curve the piece one one end and curve it the other direction on the other end to form the tail.
Glue one end of the tail on the back of the pipe cleaner body.
Tip
For a good-looking pipe cleaner cat, use the same color for the body, head, tail and ears. The only different color you will need is the pink pom pom for the nose.
