How To Make Flowers From Wired Ribbon
Ribbon flower blossoms can be colorful additions to your gift wrapping or home décor projects. You can also make a bouquet of ribbon flowers to commemorate a special occasion or as decorations for an event. You can make ribbon flowers from wired ribbon to resemble roses, peonies and other multi-layered petal flowers. Attach the blossoms to hairbows, pin backs, jewelry cording and plain bags to make personal accessory items that illustrate your sense of style.
Instructions

1
Cut a 16-inch long strand of wired ribbon from the spool. You can make the flowers smaller or larger based on the length of the ribbon.
-
2
Tie an overhand knot at one end of the cut ribbon strand.
-
-
3
Pull one side of the wire from the opposite end of the cut ribbon strand. The side of the ribbon you are pulling the wire from will start to gather. As you pull the wire, push up the ribbon on the gathering side evenly. The gathers will still be evident, but they will not be bunched up together in one spot. Stop pulling the wire after 4 to 6 inches are exposed.
-
4
Center a pencil on top of the gathered ribbon, just below the knot. Beginning with the knot end, roll the ribbon around the pencil in a tight circle. The knot will not be part of the circle; it will remain on the outside of the pencil as you roll the ribbon.
-
5
Remove the pencil. Continue rolling the wired ribbon to the end of the strand to make a rose. At the end of the roll, wrap the loose wire from the gathering process around the ribbon above the knot to secure the flower.
-
6
Grab the center of the rose from the top of the flower with needle nose pliers. Twist the pliers to tighten the flower.

Tips & Warnings
Instead of a pencil, glue one end of the gathered ribbon around the top of a pipe cleaner and wrap the flower around it. Do not remove the pipe cleaner, leave it in the design as the stem part of the flower.
