How to Make Photo Frames With Children

Children can make their own photo frames from a cardboard pasta box.

Instead of purchasing a picture frame for your child’s photo, create additional memories by making one with your child. Picture frames designed by children allow parents and relatives to display the child’s photograph and artwork together. Craft projects nurture a child's creativity and give them a sense of pride once complete.

Things You'll Need

• Pasta box with clear plastic window
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Tape
• Photograph
• Glue
• Construction paper
• Macaroni
• Glitter
• Magnet strip

Instructions

1. Cut out the front of the pasta box with the clear plastic window. Instruct your child to cut the cardboard into their preferred shape or design, but not to cut through the plastic.

2. Have your child trace the first cardboard shape onto another piece of cardboard to create the back for the picture frame. Cut out the back of the picture frame.

3. Place your child’s picture behind the clear plastic. Trim the photograph as needed, and tape it behind the clear plastic so it shows through the front of the frame.

4. Let your child glue the front and back pieces of cardboard together. Allow the glue to dry completely.

5. Help your child decorate the photo frame. He can cut out shapes from construction paper, glue on macaroni, add glitter and even draw his favorite designs onto the picture frame.

6. Glue the magnet strip onto the back of the picture frame when he is finished decorating it. Place the magnet picture frame on your refrigerator.
